Book Conservator – Sally was awarded an MLS degree in
Library and Information Sciences and a Certification of
Completion of Apprenticeship in Conservation under
William Anthony and Pamela Spitzmueller from the
University of Iowa. Sally also received a post-graduate
diploma from West Dean College located in Chichester,
UK, where she studied under Chris Clarkson and David
Dorning, completing an internship in Medieval and
Renaissance book conservation.
During
her 19 years in the book conservation field, Sally has
held conservator positions at the University of Iowa and
Southern Methodist University. She has also been
responsible, over the last 17 years, for training new
bookbinders, particularly through her work at the North
Bennett Street School and the Craft Guild of Dallas. She
has presented to such diverse groups as the Guild of
Book Workers, local interest groups, and the Helen
Warren DeGolyer Triennial Competition and Conference on
American Bookbinding. Sally has been a member of the
American Institute for Conservation (AIC) since 1989.
