Michael K. Lee

Director of Conservation and Head Paper and Photograph Conservator

Michael has specialized in photographic conservation and in the conservation of works of art on paper since 1984. He received a Master's Degree and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation from the State University College at Buffalo. Advanced studies in paper and photographic conservation were conducted at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England and the Northeast Document Conservation Center, Andover, MA, both sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon foundation.

Michael has presented lectures to professional and public audiences on photographic material identification, preservation of family collections and conservation treatments of photographs and works of fine art. He is a Professional Associate of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC), a member of the AIC - Book and Paper group and the AIC - Photographic Material Group. He is a current board member of the North Carolina Preservation Consortium.
