At the heart of our business is library binding and the many libraries we serve: university, college, seminary, medical, hospital, public, school, business, government, and special libraries as well as printers and publishers. Our customers range from small repositories of books to many of our nation’s oldest and most prestigious research libraries. These libraries are found throughout the entire forty-eight States on the mainland plus Alaska and Hawaii.

The HF Group also offers professional preservation and conservation services through its Etherington Conservation Services labs in Greensboro, North Carolina and North Manchester, Indiana. Under the leadership of Don Etherington, one of the world’s finest conservators and hand bookbinders, high quality treatments are available for books, documents, and art on paper for large-scale projects or for single items.

Digitization and document reproduction services, enclosure products, textbook rebinding, short-run edition binding, and a variety of other specialty products complement our library binding services as well.

The HF Group has always exhibited a strong customer orientation and intense commitment to conservation treatment of materials. We were one of the first to adopt and follow the proper page attachment decision tree for text block consolidation. Innovation of our products occurs side by side with both product testing and technological development. For many years, the company owned the research materials and testing equipment from the lab of William J. Barrow of Richmond, Virginia, a very well known pioneer in paper research. These assets were utilized regularly in search of a better product and to insure that current methods and materials are the very best. The materials and equipment were recently donated to the Library of Virginia.
